Hmmm... I'm new to Sai, and if I want to select the hair with my Magic Wand tool in my layer, the tool selects all of it instead of just the hair. How can I fix this?

hmm well the only things i can think of are either there is a break within your line art, which is as simple as finding it and connecting the lines together.

OR

Perhaps your magic wand settings arent right. you see in this tut the second image where ive selected the hair, well in the right hand corner are the settings i use. for the detection mode i always select transparency (strict) and never the other two options. under that is the target. I personally never choose selection source, but i do use both working layer and all image. working layer means you can only select something if its on the layer you have selected. all image means that you can select everything in the image regardless of what layer your on.

hope this helps, if not just let me know :)

It still doesn't work for me ^^; Here's why: sta.sh/01l2eyo14yfp I tried to select just one part of my lines with the same settings you just told me, and it still refuses to work...

ahh i see. you have the line art and the colour on the same layer which is why. I always recommend having them both on separate layers. (line art ALWAYS is the top layer and colour layers are underneath.)

there's not a whole lot you can do to fix that with this image (just keep what i said earlier for next time)

HOWEVER,
i think the most you can do is try changing the setting to colour difference and you see the slider directly underneath that? slide it so the number is higher, it changes the tolerance of the magic wand (high tolerance means it doesn't really differentiate between colours very well, whereas a low tolerance does.) and try selecting the hair (you might have to select different areas of the hair also to completely select it.)

that's really all you can do, but like i said earlier next time you draw make sure you have the line art on a separate layer (above the colour layers)
